The Film The Virus Tried To Stop (2020)

Director | Editor

When the Covid19 pandemic forced the postponing of my first feature film, I was determined to make the most out of the bad situation it had brought about. I spent the duration of lockdown creating a documentary which tracked the progress and development. This trailer clip is taken from the start of the film.

The film explores the changing trajectory of my feature A Fluorescent Sky, tracking my thoughts and processes as I try to cope with production during the pandemic. I incorporated pre-production material, a full read through conducted over Zoom, as well as incorporating video call interviews with other directors to discuss experiences making their first feature films.

With over 20 hours of video call material, this process became a real challenge in terms of editing discipline, feature length pacing, and refining so much content into a digestible format. It now stands as an artefact to show for what was going on during lockdown and will accompany the feature film which we have now finished principal photography for.
