Kat Penkin - Club Boyfriend (2023)
A vibrant, Y2K inspired music video for pop artist Kat Penkin. Full of colour, dance and an infamous Club Boyfriend!

Kat approached me with this concept and it was such a fun collaboration to embarce the pop and the fun of a track like this. I wanted to show off Kat’s amazing performing presence and seamlessly cut between four different performance scenes each with their own unique looks. The choreographed dance routine really helped transition through the edit and keep the pace alive.
As the song has such a great narrative thread, I wanted to keep this at the heart of the video. Showing snippets of Kat meeting her ‘Club Boyfriend’ and seeing them dance together, be whisked away to a side room, and then ultimately dumped at the end. This provided a good structure for the video and sustains the engagement. I loved collaborating with friends new and old on this and the shoot had a really fun atmosphere which hopefully reflects on screen!
The video was shot across two days in Kings Cross with small crew and a £500 budget. The song has now featured on Radio 1 and top Spotify Playlists, available to listen to by clicking here!
